I fought for a few weeks with two Chinese tablets (Q88 Allwinner and Supersonic SC-777) absolutely NO success. Here's what I found in developer options that changed everything: > Settings > Advanced > Ethernet > Open if you have that option. "DISABLED" can be written. Check the box and it should work. If your pluggable device is connected to it, it should be detected under Ethernet Devices. Click on it for more options.>> FOR ME, ETHERNET WAS DISABLED BY DEFAULT and I had to manually turn it on (click the box) before Ethernet worked with the device I was connecting to. It was NOT plug and play as other posters suggested. Runs Android 4.2.2 and 4.4.2.
