For some reason the smaller and cheaper car cigarette lighter inverters are not charging my iPad(s). I'm a writer and stand-up comedian, so I always have my iPad with me. If you don't write down an idea when inspiration comes, you will forget it. So I have to charge often and I'm sure if I knew a bit more about watts, volts and amps I could tell you why cheap inverters can't charge my iPad - I have the latest models. Therefore, they are not charged via USB and require an electrical outlet. This works when plugged into one of my car's cigarette lighter sockets and works great on a 12v battery. I have several small (6" x 3.5") 12 volt batteries that I keep charged at all times for other reasons, and the inverter has worked with them as well. although I don't know how soon it will bring her down.
