I bought this lamp to replace a similar lamp but its neck is insanely loose and getting it to point at anything is a pain. A little background about myself: I constantly suffer from severe migraines. I need as little light as possible to get through this, but when I need to do something I REALLY need light. Because of this I have a power outage in my room, so without turning on the light there is none. However, this lamp has so many settings. I do NOT have migraines right now, but if I do, this lamp will be my lifesaver. It has three "color" settings, just like my other lamp, but where this lamp in particular outperforms another, each of these settings is DIMMABLE. All three. And when it's off it remembers where you had it, which sounds typical, but with so many settings it's impressive. The neck is surprisingly stiff, but articulates easily and stays where you put it. It feels very good and I expect it to work for a long time. In addition to migraines, I make art. Scratch art, paint by numbers, paint, etc. Various brightness and color settings make it easy to focus on details. I have a second one in my cart and a month later I'm pulling the trigger as a backup. I always want to have this lamp.
