7 step procedure to charge and restore a 12 volt battery

My 2015 Porsche Cayenne S e-Hybrid is three years old. The 12 volt batteries in all my previous cars died exactly four years later. This time I wish that the 12-volt battery in the Cayenne (which, by the way, is located under the driver's seat) lasted much longer. The charging terminals for the 12-volt battery (not the hybrid battery) are located on the rear right under the hood (so no, you don't have to remove the driver's seat to access the battery terminals). I connected the red CTEK alligator clip to the positive terminal and the black alligator clip to the negative terminal. I then connected another CTEK cable to a household power strip. I set recovery mode. And after about 5 hours, step 7 green light will be on, which means the battery is now fully charged and recovered; I unplugged the cables and put the device and cables in the case that came with it. The instructions say to repeat this process once a year, so I'll do it again next year - hopefully this will save me changing the battery after four years! I'll repost here no matter what. Note: There is an 8th level for the maintenance fee, but I don't need it as I drive my Porsche almost every day.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Disappear
