Didn't know I would love this LED strip so much.

I bought this bar to place behind the wooden shelves I made as an accent light. I was beyond impressed. First, do not test them while they are still in the coil. I've heard people burn light this way. LED lights are small bright suction cups. You can shorten them to a few inches if you like and they are well marked. My project required 4 long light strips and I had to connect them with a wire. This was pretty easy as most of the information was sourced from YouTube. I bought a 25 watt soldering iron (Shack), rosin core solder (big orange box store) and wire (I bought solid core from a big orange box). buy, but I would recommend getting a braided cable so it's soft and flexible). Another useful item: a soldering iron sponge (I used a Hakko soldering tip cleaning sponge). Soldering is fairly easy, but takes practice. I've never soldered before so it was a learning experience. I watched some videos on YouTube and fell in love. So this is for beginners like me: First you need to heat up the soldering iron (probably 5 minutes?). Then unwind the solder a little from the spool, just long enough not to burn your finger and make sure it's straight. With the soldering iron in place (the little tiny circles with + and - next to the cut lines) gently touch the solder with the iron. The solder will melt in a matter of seconds and you'll smell that wonderful (albeit carcinogenic) smoke. Make a small ball of solder (slightly larger than the tip of a ballpoint pen) and quickly (not too quickly) remove the solder and iron. The perfect one would be like a tiny Hershey kiss. Do this for the other polarity. Then tin the wire. Good Good. It basically melts the solder onto your wire so they're done. Using solder on both the LED strip and the wire you can make the connection. Make sure you have RED on + and BLACK on -, double check! I place the wire next to Hershey's tiny kiss and bring the soldering iron up to touch her. Once you feel the solder melt (your hand moves or you see the wire go into Hershey's kiss), remove the soldering iron and hold the wire a little longer. If the solder has come loose from the strip, simply remove the "cold" solder and start over. With a little practice it becomes easy. I checked my setup after each light strip added. I also ended up using a remote control dimmer which was the icing on the cake.
