I upgraded to this projector from an Optoma 142x. For the price I paid (999€) I am very satisfied. I initially thought of the Optoma UHD50 because of the lens shift, but the price difference was significant. The picture on this thing is great. It's sharp and focused from edge to edge. I was concerned about the RGBW color wheel but I think the color looks great. I also didn't notice the rainbow effect like at 142x. I tried moving my eyes back and forth across the screen quickly to see if I could create the effect, but I couldn't. My Optoma 142x had a slight bulge (pincushion) at the bottom so I had to rescan a bit to hide it. Not so with the projector - the geometry is perfect. So this lens seems to be better than the 142x. There is a slight "rim of light" about an inch to two inches on the wall that is noticeable if you look for it. But honestly, that doesn't bother me at all - I consider it low offset lighting. I wish it had a slight lens shift for fine tuning, but I was able to level it without it (with a little work with the telescope mount). For the price I paid I would definitely recommend it, but at $999 wait for it. this doesn't bother me at all - I consider it low offset lighting.
