Expels a lot of air! So much so that it seemed like the water in my 10 gallon aquarium was boiling until I turned it off! I bought a second one and will be returning the ones that are only $4 less but release 1/4 the air! CALM! It's quieter than the 2 smaller air pumps I have in my second tank! Highly recommended. But 600 would easily do for a 40-60 gallon aquarium! It doesn't come with a whistle, but I recommend a Python whistle. Don't forget the anti-return devices. Nor does it exist. I like. I'd rather use a quality air pump than a cheap one with cheap tubing and $0.50 air stones!
