Review on Revitalize Your Aquarium with Seachem Renew 1 Liter by Elizabeth Moore

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Renew is much softer and thinner than carbon.

I purchased this in January 2015 for my first 30XH gallon planted aquarium. Due to the fact that I bought a used Fluval G3, I needed a material that was compatible with the chemical filter module; Renew was the clear winner. Not only did my water stay clean, it also had no odor. My plants grew and thrived undisturbed. I typically replace Renew after 30 days of use, but your mileage may vary. I understand that the plants themselves provide filtration and clean water, but if, like me, you fill your aquariums in bulk; You'll love the added benefits of a milder chemical filtration like Renew. So after heavy use I can't recommend milder, more efficient chemical filtration for a heavily planted tank or a specialty filter like the G3. Here's how I rate Seachem's various chemical filter products, from aggressive to gentle: As you can see, Renew is even more selective than Purigen (which is also best for planted aquariums), but the key difference with Renew is that it DOES NOT REGENERATE CAN. As cheap and affordable as it is, you should at least try it even if you don't have any plants.
