I am working on bringing my daughter indoors and we bought a house that was heavily smoked. We removed carpet, flooring, paneling and baseboard heaters. Then I cleaned the TSP and gave it a simple coat of green, primed and varnished everything. The smells returned and my daughter got a headache. After much searching, I bought an OdorStop OS900 and powered it up in front of a cabinet we couldn't reach due to the tight fit of the water heater. My daughter reports that the house now smells like a clean hotel room. I turned it on in the garage, which was in even worse shape, and it cleaned up too. I am very impressed with the effectiveness of this product and highly recommend it. During my research I discovered a lot of ozone. Based on how effective this was, I believe they are all wrong.
