I had high hopes for this but I had a long haired cat at first, even when I tried shock mode it probably didn't register because of all the fur. The actual impact electrode is very small. Second, I could hear the device working as my cat just sat next to me and purred, he learned to just ignore it! After all, it was very contradictory. Trying to use it with both sound settings didn't do anything, my cat squeaked and meowed, and the device turned off maybe less than a quarter of the time. I bought a remote control dog shock collar instead, the quality is much better and the remote control is much better when you need to stop the behavior.
