I would never scan my old family photos in a million years without this device and it works great. Very fast, even at 600 dpi. The quality of the scans is excellent. Easy photo submission. Has a pocket for curled, crumbled, torn etc photos but I rarely had to use her - she was very forgiving and took almost anything I gave her. The only thing that bothered me was that it brought Windows Explorer to the top after each scan. to show the folder it was scanned to - I was doing other things during the scan and didn't want to be interrupted, although I checked the scanned images from time to time to make sure the quality was still good. I just scanned to the computer because It's convenient for me to put the netbook and scanner on the kitchen counter - so as not to transfer them from the card later. This software is easy to install and set up different folders for different categories of photos. In fact, now that I think about it, the best reason to scan to a computer instead of directly to the included SD card is for the custom scan feature. Quality is easy. At some point I have to put them on cards or external drives for backup. I didn't have to rescan anything, but I'm just lucky that something gets messed up when I *don't* check! a computer - in just a few hours and do other things at the same time without lifting the tablet case up and down.
