Works great but REALLY complicated

I wanted to upgrade the Lenovo C740-14iML and Crucial advertises them as compatible. Yes they are, but you have to do something very precise to make them work. First, forget about your cloning software. I never managed to get it to work. Also, you can't mount it in an external M2 container and plug it into a USB port. What you do is use the Windows 10 online tool Install Windows -> Create installation media, USB drive, etc. And disable BotLocker! The installation software will take over your old Windows 10 serial number and license. Open your Lenovo, disconnect the battery and remove the SSD. Put in a new one. Insert the battery. Hold F12 key and open Boot BIOS and select USB. Exit and restart. Follow the instructions and you will install Windows on the new drive. Then you will have trouble installing Word, Excel and other software. If you buy an external mount for an old drive, you can easily use it as a very large flash drive and speed it up. It didn't take me a single hour, but I did move from a 256GB drive to a 500GB drive running SQL 2019 without Lenovo malware. Really nice but not easy. The drive is fast and looks reliable.

Cons
