I opened the box, removed the plastic from the filter, rinsed the filter with water and placed the large blue water filter housing in the water. This filter powers my sink and fridge. The water that flowed from the faucet after installing the new filter had a strong odor and oily taste. I continued flushing the water lines with no improvement. Then I removed the filter from the big blue filter, cleaned the filter housing and washed the water lines with hot soapy water. I then flushed the lines with water and installed a brand new filter. The water quality (taste and smell) is excellent. The remaining water filters I have from this company must be thrown away.
