I assume that anyone looking at a Surface laptop has already done enough research and is inclined to buy. You may be wondering: is it worth the risk to buy a refurbished one, and which one should I go for? When answering the first question, my opinion is absolutely positive. It was sealed in a box by Microsoft stating it was certified and refurbished. If it hadn't had the label on it I would have thought it was new. It was packaged exactly as you would expect from a new product. It partially charged right out of the box and took about 15 minutes to set up. What I really like about this computer: - It turns on almost instantly and face recognition is very fast - The screen is amazing - It's about the same size and weight as a MacBook Air. The battery life is excellent. Most laptops run slowly in sleep mode and the screen becomes so dim you can barely see it. With this computer, I'll probably use it in sleep mode most of the time, unless I'm editing pictures. I've been using it for about 4 hours and I still have 65% battery left. What I don't like: - Actually nothing. I can't figure out how to make the touchpad scroll up and down faster, but I think it's just a Windows setting. Which ones should you buy? I believe version 3 has a USB-C connector, cosmetically everything else seems exactly the same. Only you know if you really need USB C. I personally don't need it and am quite happy with the Core 7 chip instead of the Core 8. I chose the Surface Notebook 1 with a 512GB hard drive and 16GB of RAM. RAM and mass storage were much more important to me than the latest chip and I am very happy with my decision. In summary I am very happy with everything and will never know that this computer is certified and refurbished. Personally, I would have preferred the better features of an earlier version of the computer. For $780 I feel like a steal. Edit: This computer is still awesome for the price, don't regret the purchase of 9/4/21.
