This Shure is trying to lure people into buying what they think is the smaller SM7B that they see everyone using for $250. I used Samson CO1U ($100) for years and then switched to Rode NT-USB ($170). I saw this microphone with voice isolation, touch control, etc. and decided to try it. I've wanted to get the SM7B for years, but haven't lost a lot of money yet. Positive: - Predominantly solid processing quality. Others have commented on the thinness of the windshield. I agree it could be better but I like the solid metal construction. - Flexible connection options (USB/XLR) Not so good/bad: - Recording levels. This thing is VERY quiet. I need to increase the gain and that's because I'm sitting 2-3 inches away from him. The pickup's top tone is a bit annoying for my setup, but I knew it was happening. - USB. I know they don't "need" USB-C for this mic, but why not use it by default. Why are we going back? - Cable quality is so-so. - Not compatible with iPad Pro (USB-C). I can't connect this to my iPad when recording remotely? The Rode NT-USB does this wonderfully. Big failure in my opinion. Not everyone is sitting at the table, and my iPad is my mini studio on the go. Touch controls are finicky. It might seem like a small thing, but the HUGE Shure logo on either side is just silly. The SM7B is sleek, all black, and everyone knows which model it is. I don't need to promote your business on my show. Bad Shure form. Simply not worth the price of 250β¬. There are better mics for $150-200. Even decent mics for less than $100. I'll probably bring that back and tweak the SM7B at some point. Disappointing. (Note to Revain. The rating options were overall, value for money, clarity and thickness? WTH?)
