Review on Sewing Machine Motor Bestsew RM100N by Denise Davis

I bought this motor, bracket, pedal and cable assembly to replace the motor and broken motor bracket on an old sewing machine. The new motor, belt and motor mount are easy to install and work well. However, prospective buyers should note the following: 1) THE FOOT PEDAL IS NOT SPEED CONTROLLER. As other reviewers have noted, it only offers two speeds - half speed and full speed. This is intentional. I disassembled the new pedal and found that it contains a multi-pole switching mechanism and a ceramic block that usually contains resistors to provide different speeds. I removed the block and found that there are no resistive elements (it was a useless ceramic block that only has some weight). Instead, the manufacturer installed a diode on the multi-pole switch, causing the motor to run at "half speed" at every pedal stroke other than full throttle. If you plan to use this motor for variable speed applications you will need to replace the pedal. 2) I found the blades (pins) on the power plug to be too thin resulting in a loose connection, a questionable connection in every outlet I've tried. .
