Review on 🌡️ Touchless Digital Infrared Forehead Thermometer by Erick Hernandez

I am very careful when choosing thermometers to measure body temperature because the temperature range for the body is narrow and there is simply a large margin of error. I chose this thermometer because the reviews before me were positive and it has both in-ear and head-on modes. At the time of purchase, the price of the thermometer was $25.99. I did not receive any advertising from Revain or the seller for this review; All I care about is my thermometer. :^) METHODS: In order to evaluate the accuracy of this thermometer, I took measurements in different locations and modes in one sitting. I measured the temperature in the right ear (in ear measurement mode), in the center of the forehead (on contact), at various points on the forehead (on contact), across the forehead using the recommended sliding method, and in the center of the forehead. (without contact, 1 cm between the tip of the thermometer and my forehead). I have not tested the mode for measuring objects. RESULTS: With the exception of measurements at different locations, this thermometer is very consistent with a standard deviation of 0.1 degrees Fahrenheit. Non-contact temperatures are consistently lower! The differences in the measured values were greatest at various points on the forehead. The correct way to measure forehead temperature using the contact method (as detailed in the attached quick guide) is to hold down the scan button, move the thermometer from the center of the forehead to either temple, and then release the scan button . My guess is that this averages the readings as they slide to get more consistent readings. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: As advertised, the thermometer has Celsius or Fahrenheit settings (switch in the battery compartment), memory for 35 readings, a noise or mute switch and different modes for measuring forehead, ear or object temperatures. Forehead mode is the default when the cap is uncapped, and the thermometer automatically switches to ear mode when the cap is removed. Object measurement mode is set by pressing the save/mute button when the device is off. The product comes in a single box with documentation, a pouch containing a cord, two AAA batteries and a thermometer. The outside of the thermometer is made of plastic. The thermometer feels good in the hand and is surprisingly light. The ear probe cap is a bit difficult to remove and there are no removal instructions. I've found it helpful to press on both sides of the cover before pulling, which helps release the clips holding it. This rating is based on a few days of use. I will update this review as my experience with the product changes over time.
