This Night Owl fourth generation night vision monocular offers excellent value for money. For less than $200, you get a well-designed viewer that offers surprisingly good performance to the user. These are two options for button-assisted vision, including night vision and an added infrared feature that really brightens up vision. However, when used, the monocular produces a beam visible to any animal or human, so there is a loss of anonymity or invisibility. This scope has a very good view range/distance. I estimate a few hundred feet or so with good detail and clarity. Powered by a single 16340 battery, it provides a few extra fully charged backups as the infrared performance quickly drains the battery. I use my infrared power sparingly (maybe 1-2 minutes at a time). Going back to night vision alone would be a drastic difference, but let your eyes get used to it. Once this is the case, you can see perfectly in almost complete darkness. I find a bit of moonlight very helpful and leaves a lot of darkness to the naked eye, but not with Night Owl NONM4X! Animal eyes glow in the dark, making them easier to spot. The scope is covered in a nice rubberized outer sleeve that makes it non-slip, but I still wouldn't drop it! The far lens provides radical focusing, while the monocular eyepiece provides fine adjustment. This night vision scope is NOT waterproof, but dew formation is not a problem. It comes with a quality custom-fit black zip case and belt loop. Always wear the lens cap in bright places. There is actually a hole on the lens cap (although I don't know why). This is my first purchase of night vision goggles and I think I will buy more and better ones in the future but given the low price I am completely satisfied with this product. I highly recommend it. What a multifunctional device at an amazing price!
