Please note that this device is not designed for very large batteries. This is the main reason for my rating. I tried this on a large marine battery and it charged to 17V. I was about to go back until I came back and found that Schumacher didn't rate this for large batteries. When I tried it on a few small tractor batteries it worked great and charged perfectly. I've been using the device for a few months now. I have it on my F150 truck. During the time I installed the charger I had to leave the truck idle for a week and had several freezing nights. I know from experience that I would have problems without a charger. It's definitely good for my purpose. My only objection is that the power cord is too short. I had to get a 1m outdoor extension cord to get the plug through the grille. I sealed the joint under the hood with 1" gorilla tape.

Installed on friend's lawn mower, appeared to be charged/serviced. The device turns on and turns green after a while. So I figured he was doing what he was supposed to. When I came back later it showed charging again, even with the battery disconnected it didn't stay in maintenance mode. Changed batteries, same result. The voltage did not change regardless of whether the device was connected to the network or not. I have a similar device on the mower, it has been working fine for several years.

I have installed two of these devices in cars that are rarely driven. If they sit long enough, the battery charge will drop to the point where the car won't start. Then you have to start it. If this happens enough times, the battery will be destroyed and you'll have to shell out for a new one.
