Simple converter only lasts 5 months or less

I bought a used 2009 Apple Cinema Display to use with my late 2011 MacBook Pro. BlueRigger DVI to Mini Display is unreadable in my Lightning port. I bought this converter just in case something went wrong with the display so I could use it with another monitor. Connected and bam, everything works. UPDATE: Only lasted 5 months since purchase. Bought in the 1st week of July 2019, dead capital broke by the 1st week of December 2019.
