Review on πŸ”§ Klein Tools J215-8CR Hybrid Multitool Pliers: Wire Stripper, Crimper, Bolt Shearing, Looping & Grabbing by Seth Singh

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good hybrid, No: Stripper

This is fantastic. Failure to make loops is a minor setback. Mine turned out to be a bit stiff, but a liquid wrench and some WD 40 did the trick. I accidentally blew them and will definitely take them again. It is convenient to be able to use one tool instead of caterpillars and scrapers. Update a month and a half later: the jaws are too small to twist more than 3 12AWG wires. at the same time without undue exertion or wrist discomfort. The jaws of these pliers are much smaller than those of standard assemblers. Because they're smaller than standard pliers, you don't have the leverage to cut 12/3 without using your elbow or the ability to grip more than 3 12 AWG wires with ease. Part of the wire stripper gets dull, and I think that's because they get friction from the ends of the wire as they twist and cut. On Klein Tools: Having the cutters closer to the rivet makes sense, and that's where they should stay. However, the jaws must be at least the same length and gauge as a standard cord so the wire doesn't get in the way of the wire strippers. The handles should also be as long as a standard lineman to increase stress and reduce hand fatigue. I think the small profile of these pliers is meant to increase ease of use and minimalism when using the hybrid tool, but I don't think people would complain if they were bigger.
