I bought this hard drive to increase the capacity of my 80GB PS3. Huge amounts of content from games like GT5 were filling up my 80GB and I had to constantly delete demos of older games to keep up. After replacing that 500GB drive, I now have enough storage space for all of this content, which is great given the ever-increasing number of game downloads. In terms of sound, this drive is inaudible in my PS3 (as far as I can hear) and I haven't had any heat issues either. All in all I would definitely recommend this drive to anyone looking to upgrade their PS3 (even if it's a slower 5400rpm drive and not a 7200rpm drive. I've heard that 7200rpm -drives don't offer much). anyway advantage on PS3) As for the process of swapping discs, I found it a lot more complicated than it needs to be. Make sure you know exactly what kind of screwdrivers you need and buy a decent set as the screwdrivers I had were utterly useless for removing the impossibly small, impossibly tight screws that attach the disk bay hold the PS3 and hard drive in place. I ended up having to use pliers, which significantly scratched the drive bay (it's inside the PS3, so cosmetic damage isn't an issue). Much luck!
