I'm currently taking an art class and it saved me money and it does the job. So far I have used it for charcoal, pencil and ballpoint pen. Apparently it was so good that even a classmate I gave it to wear for a day (with my name on the back) never returned it. This works really well and as long as you know how to store the art there will be no mess. Charcoal works great even if you don't use VINE (found out the hard way who knew there were different types haha).
