Check out black carpets and cliff mode!

My first experience with this bot didn't go well, but after calling customer service (great phone customer service, btw) I made a few changes that worked. At first, Bot (we call her "Rosie" after the robot girl from The Jetsons) didn't climb onto the two rugs on our tile floor. At first I thought maybe they were too plush/big and he couldn't climb them. Then he didn't move at all, cast off at my command, walked lazily, circled a little and docked again. Then I called the support. The rep asked if there were BLACK stains on any of the rugs that were on top of the 2 rugs he was avoiding. Well, ROCK SENSORS read BLACK as ROCK! Find out. He suggested taping 3 breakage sensors on the bottom with tape and trying not to put the tape directly on the sensor. Well it worked like a charm! I just have to remember to close the basement door since the cliff sensors are disabled. Apart from the problem with the dock, he said that it probably doesn't charge well and might not be properly connected to the charger (tested: after a good charge it works fine). I've been using Rosie for 3 weeks now since I called customer service and set it up and it's working GREAT. Last night he worked 2 hours straight and did a good job. We have 2 border collies who shed a lot and no dog hair was found. I gotta love it I'll update this review if anything changes, but for now I'm satisfied. REVIEW UPDATE: I almost got it back and bought ROOMBA. The Roomba arrived, was very difficult to program, and had the same cliff sensor issue as the iLife, so it couldn't climb my black-edged carpets, which meant taping off the sensors. After one brushing, the dog hair wrapped around the brushes and it took almost half an hour to clean them. That being said, I sent the Roomba back (I really hated it) and kept the iLife. That being said, iLife is better when it comes to price and daily maintenance. Aftermarket filters are readily available (cheap) and I'm considering buying a second and maybe even a third (since we have a two story house). I love this little bug so much!
