I use these for ceramic rings, charcoal, zeolite and matrix. They are NOT suitable for Purigen due to the larger hole size. The zippers are durable and made of plastic so they won't rust. I shake the charcoal in the pouch while rinsing it out, and these pouches don't feel like they will rip or tear under that kind of stress. These are strong and durable bags. I highly recommend them. They're in every one of my canister filters and all my outboard filters that can hold them and I haven't had a single failure yet. Good product!
