Tablecloths smaller than 72" are hard to find. Also, most tablecloths are linen or lace and look dated. This jute runner is the perfect 36" size for my 53" maple sideboard/console. I didn't want the runners to hang down the sides, but I needed something to hide some of the finish that was neatly scratched and discolored. The neutral color, weave, and jute material allow my pottery to stand out/contrast with the surface and add "depth" or "interest" to the exposure. This will help protect the top of the furniture from additional scratches. I love this item and wish they had more sizes - maybe a 48" or 56" runner - and shapes - maybe a round 18" to 20" diameter or an oval 18" to 20" length. It appears to be well made, the only downside is the dust that seems to come from the jute fibers. This minus should not be a problem, since the slider rarely moves.
