These pillows are vacuum packed and look like the flattest pillows when you take them out of the packaging. Within a few minutes they will swell completely. It's not the firmest of pillows, but if you use a cover that's slightly smaller than the pillow, you end up with a nice full pillow that's quite firm. I used these 20x20 pillows in an 18x18 case and they look amazing. I wish I had thought of buying them to replace the worn out filling in our old pillows a few years ago. I would buy these pillow inserts again.
