This remote control works great. I'm writing this review to help others program this thing. I spent an hour not programming this and failed, and then about 2 minutes to get it right. The instructions could use an explanation. Nothing has changed in my instructions but I received them in September 2018. Start with an open door. (I'm not sure if this is a requirement, but it didn't work with the door open, although possible mistake on my part.) You still have to be on the stairs to press the "LEARN" button, so The console is in close proximity to the knife. My discoverer is the new Liftmaster. Step 3: Hold down * and # until the keys stop blinking. Now do step 4 and then 5 quickly WHILE THE BUTTONS STILL FLASHING. Use a one digit identifier, not two digits, so 8, not 08. Now follow step 6 by pressing the LEARN button on the opener. Code XXXX and you're done! I see a lot of comments about it being difficult to open and my wife complained too. I removed the cover completely and there are two stops, one to lock in the up position and the other to lock in the down position. Find the one that locks it in the down position and on its "top" side, use a (very) sharp knife to cut it into a ramp instead of a rectangle. This makes opening much easier and reduces the risk of tearing off as less force is required.
