We all remember when batteries came along. They were good back then but they didn't last long and if you kept them for a while you usually had to charge them before using them. My husband discovered the eneloop batteries about three years ago. He bought a set of 8 AA batteries and a charger. We still have them and they're still going strong. He liked them so much that he bought many other sets that held more AA and AAA batteries, as well as a range of cases that turn AA batteries into C or D batteries. They have replaced all of our disposable batteries. If we use the ones that have been stored for a year, they are still almost fully charged. My brother and his wife just had their first baby who turned 4 months on Christmas day so I bought this set for my brother after visiting and seeing how many batteries they use in all the baby electric stuff. If you've ever used batteries, you need eneloop in your life.
