Review on CPU Cooler Thermalright Silver Arrow T8 by Stanislaw Kosciukiew ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Valuable purchase, nothing but pluses!

With great difficulty, I was able to install the cooler into the Cougar MX330 case (there is a limitation of 155mm in the height of the cooler, but in fact there is still 1-2 mm left to the glass). Cools Ryzen 7 5800X. Compared to Thermalright Macho 120 Rev. B, the gain is 7-9 degrees under LinX 0.6.5, which is very worthy (in both cases, Thermalright TRX thermal paste was used, only ZhM is better). But you need to understand that even such a cooler is not able to cool the 5800X in some loads (but even with a custom CBO in the 3dnews review, it warmed up to 90 degrees, so this is more likely a problem with this processor). In fact, this is the same legendary arrow that can be installed in standard cases. The closest analogue is Noctua NH-U12A. Same height. But this cooler is slightly cheaper, quieter, and depending on your luck (with the base) can be more efficient. The addition of the old TY-121BP allowed temperatures to drop another 1.5 to 3 degrees in Linx 0.6.5. I recommend. : I experimented with installing fans (I bought 2xTL-C12 PRO and TL-D14X) and came to the conclusion that 2 fans are enough. When setting 3, the front 120 does not improve the temperature regime at all. Best of all showed itself 140 in the middle, fixed on the front section, and 120 for blowing (last photo). This is probably due to better airflow through the middle of the front section (since there is no "dead" zone behind the fan).

Pros
  • 1) One of the best coolers has shrunk and barely lost in efficiency! 2) Does not block memory slots! 3) Very good thermal paste included! 4) Includes brackets for installing 2 more fans.
Cons
  • 1) As always with Thermalright lottery with a reason. But I got lucky. 2) For the price as a good CBO. However, in terms of efficiency (taking into account noise) it is approximately parity (wins in terms of noise level, loses in terms of maximum heat dissipation).
