I don't know if I melted this charcoal or not and what the benefits of it would be and frankly I don't care either. What's really important to me is its strength and this thing can clean. I've bought a few brushes to find one that feels like it's actually rubbing rather than massaging or stroking my back and finally I have one that has a softer side and a harder side for you to decide which you want to use. For me both are good, neither is as mild as many others I've tried so if you have very sensitive skin I wouldn't recommend it. The grip and build are generally of good quality. The only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is that the combination of the size of the handle and the lack of any ergonomic shape doesn't make it as comfortable as I would like. as usual it is great.
