I don't know about other types of brackets but the H1 bulb comes with a plastic ring around the element holder to keep it some distance from the headlamp housing. When I first installed these bulbs in my headlight, the radiation pattern wasn't very good. Not only did it not point in the right direction, it also didn't illuminate the road very far. After dragging it to a place where I could work on the machine in the dark. I was able to find that when I removed the plastic cap from the flashlight and placed it in the housing, not only was the light directed in the right direction, but it was now very bright with a distinct edge. To do this I managed to trim 2 grommets on the plastic ring so that the light penetrated deep into the body and stayed locked. So I don't sacrifice my housing lamp and also get the full brightness of the LED as described.
