It rotates so you can adjust the light level.
The light from this lamp is a beautiful white color but seems too bright for a 10 gallon aquarium. The algae grew like crazy! I didn't know the light rotated (because I didn't read the instructions) so you can rotate it so it bounces off the hood so it's less intense. Much less algae growth now! I gave four stars because the first of these bulbs I bought burned out pretty quickly. Have bought more.
