Works well in the attic

Very happy with this antenna so far. It can be easily assembled in about 15 minutes. All hardware was included to mount to a wooden rack in the attic. It could also be mounted on a pole. I installed it in the attic on the 2nd floor about 25 feet off the ground. The house is timber framed with a clapboard roof and vinyl siding. The station antenna truss is about 20 miles away and there are no major obstacles as our house is on a hill. The antenna has no amplifier. I added an RCA TVPRAMP1Z outdoor antenna preamp (sold separately) installed next to the antenna in the attic. It worked well. This amp allows me to feed power from the basement into the amp via a coaxial antenna cable. I only have one coaxial cable from the distributor in the basement to the antenna in the attic. The web antenna lists 43 channels for my address and I can pick them all up clearly including yellow and red. The picture is excellent lossless. My Samsung TVs show signal strength on every channel and all show 30-80%. I route an amplified signal from the attic to the basement and then distribute it to 3 TVs. That's 60-80 feet of coaxial cable from the antenna to the TVs. I have not tried the antenna without an amplifier. I also don't know if bad weather affects the signal. Here is a picture of my setup.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Some flaws
