Keep your expectations low.

After all these years of messing around with antennas I should have known better. Just background: I'm 23 miles north of New York, almost all stations are a straight line at 207-208 degrees south of me. A decent Yagi directional antenna should pick up all stations on the VHF band for New York. But alas, this antenna appears to be little more than a wire hanger (which it generally is). Build quality is average at best. Note that the arch array on the back appears to be mostly decorative as it…

WANT TO SAVE OVER $1500.00 PER YEAR?

I bought this antenna on Feb 27th ($39.50) and received it on March 1st. Also bought a 4 port Cable TV/HDTV/Digital Amplifier Internet Modem Signal Amplifier Internet Amplifier for another $26.17 then went to Home Depot for 25ft of electrical cord, outlet, GFCI outlet and outlet cover. Went to tvfool.com to check alignment. For cable routing, I used existing cable grommets that were previously installed by Dish. I installed an outlet that took power from the attic light. All in all it took…

Works well in the attic

Very happy with this antenna so far. It can be easily assembled in about 15 minutes. All hardware was included to mount to a wooden rack in the attic. It could also be mounted on a pole. I installed it in the attic on the 2nd floor about 25 feet off the ground. The house is timber framed with a clapboard roof and vinyl siding. The station antenna truss is about 20 miles away and there are no major obstacles as our house is on a hill. The antenna has no amplifier. I added an RCA TVPRAMP1Z…

STOP HAZARDING AND DO IT

You will be happier in the long run, despite the inconvenience of installing it in the attic. We gave up cable over a year ago and used a 50 mile table antenna with a booster. It worked well, but not as well as I had hoped since all of the station's antennas are within 30 miles or so of us. We put up with patchy stations that can decide at any moment not to receive a signal due to weather, tree leaves or lack thereof, PMS, slight changes in the dog's position, neighbors in the yards, etc. So…

Received more stations than I expected

I looked at a few antennas on Revain and finally settled on this one. While the antenna was moving, I used TVFool.com to check a map to see where the various antennas are in my area. I selected the course with the most antennas and then averaged the course of all antennas in that general direction. When the antenna arrived I assembled everything. This took about 15 minutes. Not the easiest build, but not bad either. After collecting the antenna, I climbed into the attic and installed it as high

Finally a working antenna. 10 stars instead of 5

Wow. Just received a few hours ago. 40 years combat antenna. Inside on a table by the window. First scan 40 channels with 38 good and clear without flicker. Rescanned turned out 38 channels 36 well after a small move. I bought 3 of these flat things. waste of money. Paid the same for these 3 as I did for these. I'm so glad I won't put it outside. Not necessary. Attached is a photo of the inner plus part in the assembly process. I don't know who gave it a star. It is not. I pick up 40 miles from

Excellent on UHF, terrible on VHF

The assembly isn't bad, but it's a bit clunky and aluminum-plastic parts feel rather flimsy. If you are not careful when assembling, the rods can bend. As it is intended to be mounted in an attic it will likely hold up. The mounting screws were very cheap and the screw heads had snapped off, prompting us to remove them with a hacksaw when replacing them with the much better RCA Yagi we bought next. Reception on the UHF channels was fantastic which is why I'm giving it 3 stars - if I could rate…

Ideal for two TV setups

Spoiler alert if you decide to read the novel below; I needed an antenna, two 50 foot coax cables, a distribution amplifier, two 10 foot coax cables (1 for the antenna and 1 to power the amplifier), patience and some money for a curse can. This antenna works like a champ; However, I would like to discuss a few things to help others who decide to install. I would have been discouraged early on if I hadn't followed the advice I read on a "line cutting" website. I chose an attic antenna because…
