Review on Yodo 2 Person Lightweight Camping Tent With Carry Bag - Perfect For Backpacking And Outdoor Adventures by Shah Bell

Buy it because it's lightweight

Having read the reviews I knew this tent would not do a great job of keeping us dry in heavy rain. We live in Utah and don't get much rain and I needed a lightweight tent for our backpacking trip to havasupai. The forecast was showing a very slight chance of rain for our trip so I bought this tent because it is so lightweight. To get any other 2 person tent at this weight (just over 3 pounds) you have to spend over $300. So this is an ideal tent for occasional backpackers who aren't expecting to deal with rain. I am 5'11" and my wife is 5'9" and we slept comfortably in this tent. That is until our final night of camping when it rained for over 4 hours. We got wet. Especially at the doorway but a little at the corner seams. But the leaks were mostly my fault. I skimped on weight and didn't bring the stakes so the door and walls were sagging since the tent wasn't pulled tight. Where the door sagged against the screen is where most of the water got in. Also, I didn't bother using waterproofing spray. With stakes and waterproofing I think you could stay pretty dry and have a great little backpacking tent and while it may not hold up on an extended trip for hundreds of miles. This is perfect for weekend warriors who don't want to spend $300 to get a lightweight tent.

Pros
  • The tent comes with a convenient carry bag, making it easy and convenient to store and transport
Cons
  • Limited headspace makes it difficult to change clothes
