Review on 🚗 Quick-Strut 171281 Strut and Coil Spring Assembly by Monroe Shocks & Struts by Fock Dean

I bought four racks for my '95 Pontiac Sunfire Convertible and my husband installed them with the help of my nephew. The project was easy if you have the right tools. Using a 1/2" socket wrench with an extension handle was unable to remove the bottom bolts. Using a 300ft impact wrench immediately loosened the bolts. You will need a torque wrench to tighten the bottom bolts to about 130ft. lbs and top bolts up to approximately 50 ft-lbs when installing new struts. Consult your service manual for the correct torque settings and do not use these settings on your vehicle as they may differ. They will also need to deflect after installation. After after installation the suspension improved and braking improved no more nose dives under hard braking we had a problem with the luggage rack the rear column was causing a rattle when riding the top nut of the strut bar rattled while riding rear bracket and it was clear that the strut brace washer was rattling because of the 1/8 gap between the pole nut and the base of the bracket Customs existed. A call to Monroe Technical Support the next morning revealed that we had a defective rack. The Revain supplier delivered a new rack within 2 days. However, we had to replace the frame next weekend, which shouldn't have happened. One nice thing about this shock and spring assembly is that you don't have to fiddle with a spring compression tool. These units are assembled and ready to be installed in the vehicle. If you are just replacing the strut, you will need to compress the original spring to remove the damper. It may be dangerous. Buying the whole block means you don't have to fiddle with the quill at all.
