It took about the same amount of time, maybe longer than my whistling kettle on the electric stove. I got this working as we opened a new building to expand and have no alternate access to HOT HOT HOT! water for coffee and tea. In my opinion the best selling feature on this thing is the auto shut off feature. After it finishes its cycle, it stops heating and turns off, which is just perfect for the everyday person who wants to "set and forget".
