I was building a roof over my 14ft x 24ft patio and wanted something more stylish than the standard string lights. I recently discovered a new night light ring light so I decided to give it a try. I placed 8 lamps about 7 feet apart. They look great and work well. I put them on a dimmer and they dim really well, but if you dim too little they just turn off and if you turn up the brightness a bit the night light turns on. It doesn't matter, just do it again when the main light comes on. I was a little concerned that the lights might get out of sync and they might if you fiddle with them (off/on/off/on) but just turn them off and let them sit for 5 seconds , and they will all return to their basic bright state. It should be noted that the cutout size of the hole is 6 inches and there isn't much room for error, so don't cut the holes carelessly.
