LED display too bright

I recently purchased and installed a 6337 water temperature sensor. Auto Meter says the LED is "bright" and they mean it. This is normal on a bright sunny day and if you wear sunglasses it will be too bright otherwise. I can't explain what they were thinking. You can connect it to a light switch to dim it a little at night when you turn on the light, even if it's too bright. Much more annoying than during the day. Basically I bought a digital meter from this Auto Meter brand because it reads down to 0 degrees instead of starting at 100 degrees like other brands. I also installed an AEM digital sensor and the brightness is perfect day and night. There seems to have been a problem with this sensor for a number of years. Listen to car meters. Another issue I had is that their wiring harness is quite short. It wouldn't hurt to add a few meters. It looks like the meter is working well so far. Update November 29, 2015: After using this meter for over 3 years, I would like to point out that the temperature indicated by the meter is higher than the actual temperature. For example, at 80 degrees, Auto Meter reads 82 degrees; at 200 degrees, the Auto Meter reads 209 degrees. I tested this on two other thermometers which showed the same thing. So I assumed the sensor is off and reading higher than the actual temperature. I didn't have any issues other than the brightness I mentioned in my previous review.
