Sonoff isn't the smallest but I needed an outlet with local control and power control. I was able to flash the Tasmota to an outlet in about 5 minutes as the Sonoff is easy to disassemble. When the Tasmota firmware is running on an outlet, everything is controlled locally with Home Assistant. There is no need to connect the device to a server in a distant country and there is no connection outside of my home. In fact, I've placed all my IoT devices on a VLAN that has no access to the internet or my regular home network. Keep everything local with local control and keep spyware out of your home.
