I already had a VaVa baby monitor with almost identical HelloBaby features which I bought about 8 months ago. However, I needed a different monitor for parents in hospice care and came across this one. After purchasing the HelloBaby monitor, I found that this monitor was the best of the two I had. There are a few cons that haven't become crucial to me, but I thought I should mention them. Firstly, the focus of the camera is already quite close without zoom. It took some work and a little frustration to find that perfect spot and angle, but I think we finally got it. In case you are wondering, for us this seat was in the middle of the crib and high up against the wall. Unfortunately, I also had to add a cable channel to secure the camera's cable to the wall and protect it from a child's prying fingers. There were several other options for camera placement, but none of them covered the inside of the crib 100% or accounted for the length of the camera's electrical plug. Unfortunately, when my granddaughter, now 9 months old, rolls over on her stomach, I can't see her full face from this aerial view. However, most cameras with or without zoom have various problems with this problem. The second point I would like to point out is that the vertical movement of the camera stops but does not help. It doesn't have the same range as my VaVa monitor. It's close, but not close enough to be useful. However, I found a workaround by purchasing an adjustable wall corner mount that swivels up and down cheaply. This gives that extra movement that the camera alone doesn't have. The final downside is that the UI is a bit more complicated than VaVa's, but not distracting. You may be wondering why I stuck with this HelloBaby monitor with a few downsides I mentioned and the answer is in Pros.Pro #1 - Night Vision has a brightness control that helps a lot in pinpointing the visual effect in dark moments to achieve the sleep time . With VaVa.Pro #2 I don't have this option. While both monitors claim similar distance capabilities, the HelloBaby fares much better in this area. Another monitor went off at the other end of my house while HelloBaby kept ticking. It changed my game right away. As a general recommendation, I give this particular HelloBaby monitor a thumbs up. I would buy it again (even from VaVa).
