I promise I will explain the 5 star rating. Having used multi-blade razors my whole life, I assumed the learning curve for this razor would be relatively flat because of this, I couldn't be more wrong. When I first used this razor, it cut me to the point where I looked like Frankenstein's monster. To be honest, I should mention that I shave my face and head in one go. So I used this razor and some shaving soap I bought and spent about 30 minutes shaving my head. I had long cuts and felt like the skin had been torn from my head. It hurts a lot. The learning curve for this razor is a lot steeper than I thought it would be. So I waited a week for my cuts to heal and tried again. This time I took my time (about 45 minutes) and mixed in some Nivea For Men Sensitive Shaving Gel). /ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1414271475&sr=8-1&keywords=Nivea+For+Men+Sensitive+Shaving+Gel%2C+7-Ounce+Canister) and gave the best results, just a few snips and no snips. In the weeks that followed I ordered a sample razor and found Derby Extra Double Edge razor blades (Link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004SGKMA0/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1414271569&sr=1&keywords=derby+). razors + blades) and also stopped using shaving soap and chose Nivea; The results were wonderful. I shave much better than with Gillette or Schick multiblades, my skin feels and looks better and I don't have the razor burn that I used to have with these blades. Also, my shaving time has reduced to 15-20 minutes (for the whole head) and I can shave against the grain with no problems. When using this razor, be careful with the learning curve and the blades that come with it. The Shark blades were like a chainsaw shave compared to the Derby blades. Plus, most dual-blade enthusiasts will be happy to use shaving soap and a brush; I haven't had any cuts or cuts since going back to canning and the shave has been very comfortable. So why 5 stars? Because once you learn how to use it and how to use the right cream and blades, this razor will give you a superior shave compared to multi-blade razors at a fraction of the cost. Gillette runs ads saying their blades cost you a dollar a week, Derby blades cost you a dollar every 2.5 months! Instead of spending $52 a year on cartridges, I'd rather spend about $5 a year on replacement blades. After all, having this thing in the bathroom is just cool. I've always hated how multiblades look like junk toys/jet planes/sports cars. I don't want/need bright colors, vibrating heads or an all plastic body; I want something classic that a person with good taste would have in their bathroom. This razor fits perfectly.
