Not having a VW Passat repair manual I had to resort to an online video as a repair manual. With this car, there's always some clever layout, fastener or connection that turns what seemed a simple job into a royal pain in the neck. After finding a video based on a kit that only had a cable and nylon guides (for about half the price) I was very unhappy to take on this project. However, this point removed many steps (and the possibility of screwing things up) from the equation. I didn't have the alignment problem mentioned by others. The window doesn't go all the way down (maybe it never happened and I didn't notice), but who cares - it works. Compare that to the outrageous cost of repairs at the store. These things must have quality instructions for the installation to go smoothly. The only major problem I had was the difficulty with the electric door lock plug, which I broke and created a second project.
