After trying to erase a previous OEM Wii drive I gave up and tried this one. All you need is a Phillips screwdriver and a Phillips Y-head screwdriver. There are instructions online for disassembling the Wii. This is a simple 15-20 minute install. There are two cables underneath the drive, so be careful when removing the original drive. Be sure to read the instructions for disconnecting and reconnecting each cable. After installation I tried all our games and had no problems. You can probably find a console for $50-$80, but if you don't mind spending 20 minutes and $18, this will help.
