Great airtight storage container

This is a nice little bin. It is lightweight and stackable, which means it allows you to store lots of stuff in a compact space within this and others like it. The plastic is clear, which allows you to easily see the contents without having to label the container. It is attractive and would probably coordinate well with any decor. It is a very useful and versatile addition to your kitchen or office.Although this is a hand-wash only item, it is easy to clean. Just a little soapy water to wash, and then air dry. I am guessing that the rubber seal might be ruined in the heat of a dishwasher, so don't try that. The seal of this storage container is airtight. I tried putting it into a refrigerator and then taking it out to see if any condensation collected inside. When I took it out and set it on the counter at room temperature, I found moisture on the outside, but the interior was dry. I also poured water over the places where the lid and the bottom connected with the same result: water all over the outside, but none inside the box. This would make it perfect for storing dry foods--like flour, pasta, rice, beans, nuts, seeds, loose tea, dried fruit, etc. It would keep any snacks you stored inside fresh and crisp, as well.I would not advise storing any liquids or moist foods in this container. Even though it is BPA-free, I am sure there are still chemicals that would leach into liquids if stored for any significant amount of time. You also should not heat anything in this container for the same reason. If you don't choose to store food--wet or dry--in one of these, here are some other suggested uses:1) Recipes/card file--4 x 6 inch note cards fit perfectly in this box.2) Crayon/marker storage3) Toiletries/make-up bin4) Store valuables like a cell-phone, wallet, etc., on your boat or in a cooler on a float trip.5) Stationery box6) Craft supplies7) Hardware8) Computer gadgets/cables9) Collectibles [may not be acid-free, however]If you could purchase an assortment of different sizes of these boxes, that would be ideal. They'll help you get your pantry, cabinets, desk, sewing table, workbench, etc., neat and organized.

Cons
