Don't know what to say. The wiring in my car seems to work - 12 volts on one wire always - 12 volts on the second wire only when the radio is on - ground tests are good. However, this block only lengthens when both wires of the block are connected to 12 volts on a constant wire. It will fail if any of the wires from the device are only connected to the 12 volt wire. I turned the unit off and left it up, unplugging all power cords so it would function as a fixed antenna. But it doesn't work at all as expected. Metra was good enough to send me a second antenna - it cost me $12 to send them the first device - both devices behaved exactly the same. So my guess is that the device is somehow not compatible with the electrical voltage or amperage of a 1997 Mazda 626.
