I had one of the old yellow soft plastic inserts that doesn't hold up well. I decided to try these. If you compare the old and new jaws, they are much better. The magnets are strong and hold well. It even takes a little manipulation to make them come loose when removed. They are definitely harder than the soft yellow stuff. If you have something that requires soft jaws, don't use them. The resin is pretty hard. It will likely move with metal, but not softer materials. Turns out this can be used on both the grooved sides and the flat sides. I wasn't aware of that when I bought it, so that's a bonus. The only drawback is the processing. One of the two jaws was rough on the flat side, the other was not. So this is a quality issue that was not fixed before shipping. I would turn down this pair because of that delta. But I have them, they work well enough and replacing them wasn't too bad. In general I am satisfied with them.
