Suspended as in the picture. To my dismay, each string was pre-programmed before I installed them, so they all had the same light pattern. They were wired in series with the timer. Each time the timer went off, each string (that was attached to each other) flashed in a different pattern. It seems that the pre-program is reset when the timer starts. So now I have all the lights on the gable flashing individually or according to their program. The lights don't look anemic either, as each line looks like individual wet noodles. Doesn't look as scratched as in the picture. Now that they're up, I won't break the ladder to get them down. hate her!
