UPDATE - Coway will not repair/replace :(

UPDATE MAY 2020: The unit started making a squeaking noise from the fan which got progressively worse. I contacted the Coway warranty department but they refused to repair/replace as the unit was listed as 'used' which was new to me and extended the warranty to the original purchaser. I was the original purchaser! the unit arrived in a coway box, boxed, sealed etc disappointed in me $500 squeaky machine BE CAREFUL UPDATE: 1st month running I cleaned the pre-filter as planned as well as the air sensor with a cotton swab Please note I used the vacuum cleaner hand nozzle when cleaning the pre-filter, it is advisable to suck in the direction of the air flow, for example "outside" the filter, so as not to press Remove particles through the fine mesh dur ch suction. Hope that helps! My wife suffers from severe allergies (pets, pollen, whatever). ad have tried high efficiency filters in the air conditioner, humidifier, regular vacuuming but to no avail. She took Allegra and/or Zyrtec daily and found it difficult to sleep well at night. The Airmega 400 has completely changed their quality of life. We had it for 4 days and we don't look back! Room Size: If you've done some research you already know that the size of the room(s) determines the size of an air purifier as it can twirl the air around the room. The unit is rated for 2 air changes per hour at 1560 feet, which is a very solid number. If you have exceptionally high ceilings, consider this. We intentionally placed it in the bedroom to filter out that area and the adjacent living space, about 500 feet or so. In this field he is very good. (Now we're going to buy another block for the lower floor.) Size: This is a large block so check the dimensions for your intended location. For reference, think of this as the size of the side table. It takes in air from both sides and blows air from above, so it needs free space on each side and of course you can't put anything on it. Noise: invisible in sleep mode. We have a fan in our room which completely masks the noise of the fan when going from sleep mode to low state. It gets louder on startup, but in our experience it only occurs when we're vacuuming or stirring the elements. In the mid-range, it's not much louder than the air coming in through the air-conditioning vents. Not enough to get our attention. The high setting is noisy and the unit will move some serious air, but again, it only works for a few minutes at a time. Smart Mode: So far I've been impressed with its ability to detect changes in the air and switch up/down automatically. It works exactly as advertised. The LED display helps to monitor the air quality in the room. Sleep mode: The air quality LED, while good, is too bright for the bedroom and we turn it off before bed. Again, the Silent Night setting is great. Cleaning: I didn't have to clean the unit, but it seems easy to open the side vents and access the filters. I noticed that the filters fit snugly and securely into the unit with no gaps. Tolerances are well designed. I didn't see the value in the "S" versions with the included app. I saved a few bucks and left without them.
